Recommended Diesel Truck Maintenance
The best way to keep your trucks on the road is to keep up with regular scheduled preventive maintenance. The recommended maintenance schedule for diesel trucks is as follows:
- Oil change every 5,000 miles
- Fuel filters change every 15,000 miles
- Transmission service every 30,000 to 50,000 miles
- Coolant should be changed every 5 years or 50,000 miles
- Fluids in transfer case / front and rear axles / power steering and brakes should be inspected and changed before losing transparency
- Air filters need regular changing
Oil and Lube Service
Oil and lube service is recommended every 5,000 miles on diesel trucks. Onsite’s oil and lube service includes:

- Fuel system cleaning – the fuel system is cleaned to remove any buildup that may be clogging fuel injectors, lines, or filters.
- Spark Plug Replacement – spark plugs are replaced to ensure the engine is starting and running smoothly.
- Ignition System Check – ensures the spark plugs are firing properly and at the correct time.
- Emissions System Check – ensures optimal function within the legal limits.
Timing Adjustment – the engine timing is adjusted to ensure optimal performance and fuel efficiency. - Compression Check – the compression of each cylinder is checked to ensure the engine is generating adequate power.
